Armstrong Shamrocks 12, Kelowna Raiders 3
Although it did not take long for the Kelowna Raiders to notch a goal in the first period, Armstrong’s Brett Hawrys scored three goals to set Armstrong on the path to their first playoff game win. Kelowna’s defence worked hard to contain the Armstrong shooters all evening and if it were not for Kelowna’s goaltender Graham Cousins’ outstanding performance stopping 69 shots, the score could have been much higher.
Scoring for Armstrong were Brett Hawrys with 4, Cam Nelsen and Braydon Sanders each with 2 and singles from Drew Hassard, Will Hanley, Steve Clark and Joel Castle. For the Raiders it was Vic Wiens with a pair and Pho Heng with the single.
The two teams continue to battle it out tomorrow July 7 at Kelowna Memorial. Game time is 7:30 pm.
