Danny Proulx

Danny Proulx retired from lacrosse last season but it seems that no one told him. Receiving the City of Kelowna’s Community Sport Hero Award in 2014 for all of his volunteer contributions in hockey, football and lacrosse, Dan continues to help out with equipment around our dressing room on a regular basis despite having to face some serious heath issues over the past couple of years. Here is a brief run down of Dan’s contributions over the years:

• Arrived in Kelowna in 1971, became District Scoutmaster, Venturer Advisor and Rover Leader
• Coached hockey for 10 years after the opening of the Rutland Arena
• In 1976 started coaching Minor Lacrosse in Kelowna and Rutland
• Became the Equipment Manager and Trainer for the Vernon Sr. B Tigers then the Jr. B Tigers and the Okanagan Masters Lacrosse
• In 1998-99 coached the Kelowna Sr. B Warriors
• In 2000, became Equipment Manager for the Okanagan Thunder (Sr. A)
• Became equipment Manager for the Rutland Sr. and Jr. Raiders which eventually became the Kelowna Sr. and Jr. Raiders
• Until now has logged in over 35 years volunteering for hockey and lacrosse
• Reffed the Okanagan Sun for 3 years and Kelowna Minor Football for 38 years

Everyone wishes Dan the best and the Senior Raider’s players, coaches and management would like to express their appreciation for his contribution to our club!
