Raiders Host Persistent Rattlers This Friday 8:00 pm
Even though the Raiders are comfortably atop the league at this point in the season, the Kamloops Rattlers will come to town looking for vengeance. Led by league-leading scorer Mark Jurista, the Raiders cannot take the north Okanagan team lightly. In previous meetings with the Rattlers, the Raiders have just squeeked by the fast-breaking team. The Raiders will attempt to set the tone early in the match. Kelowna’s defence will have to come up with a solid effort to keep Kamloops off their game. This is a game that fans will not want to miss. It promises to be a barn-burner!

Raiders Squeak Past Shamrocks
The Kelowna Raiders got a scare from the Arstrong Shamrocks last night in OXLL action at the Armstrong arena. After dominating most of the game with help from Kelownas latest free agent signing Scott Mazuren, the Raiders played a sloppy 3rd period allowing the Shamrocks to score 4 unanswered goals in the third taking the Raiders to double overtime. With the sell out crowd rallying behind the Shamrocks, Brett Logan fired in the tieing goal with 10 seconds left sending the game into overtime. The first overtime period had no goals, the teams were starting to look sluggish, but Raiders goalie Cam Needham came up big with key stops and a little help from the goal posts. The Raiders, who were short benched do to injuries and misconducts, came out with a little more pizazz in the 2nd over time shutting down the Rocks offence allowing some chances at the other end of the rink. A timely penalty to the Raiders with 3:45 left in the 2nd OT looked like the end but Kelownas Captain Kyle Tomiye came up big and scored the winning goal short handed faking out Armstrong goalie Chad Piper and putting it in the top corner.
Scoring for Kelowna was: Scott Mazuren 2g 2a, Geoff Wray 2g 1a Eli Wood-Scowcroft 2g 1a Kyle Tomiye 1g 1a, Darcy Leach 1g Kyle MacLennan 2 a Hao Lieu 2 a Brody Daft 2a

Kelowna Raiders took it to the Vernon Royals last night at Memorial arena and they took it to them hard. The Raiders took full advantage of the Vernon Royals, who had a short bench due to key injuries to some of their star players, coming out of the gate firing on all cylinders jumping to a quick 5-1 lead. The 2nd period brought a little more fight out of the Royals but the Raiders were able to match the intensity and find holes in the Vernon Defence. Kelowna countered with their defensive presence with the return of grizzled vetern Darren Lornson and stellar goaltending from paul Dupuis only allowing 1 goal in the second. Kelowna Offence was able to sneak 5 more in to the Vernon twine ending the 2nd with a 10-2 lead. Vernons short bench finally caught up to them and the Raiders offence took full advantage of that scoring 7 goals from 7 different players in the span of the final 20 minutes while the Royals could only sneak 2 more past Raiders netminder Dupuis. No commentsRaiders Squeak on by Rattlers
Not only did the team bus show up late, but it took half the game for the Kelowna Raiders start showing up as well. Rolling in to the Kamloops Memorial Arena parking lot with only a few minutes to spare before game time, the Raiders had the scramble to get their gear together and on the floor. The lack of a warm up really showed as the Raiders started the game slow, missing passes and not taking advatnage of scoring opertunities. Raiders were lucky to get out of the 1st period only down by a pair of goals. The 2nd period didn’t start much better and the Raiders took a tumble by having two players ejected and giving up 4 goals. The wheels just were not turning for the Raiders and no one seemed to have the answer after being down 6-2. Half way through the period the Raiders excellent defensive play helped slowly sway momentum their way rubbing off on the offence potting 6 goals tieing the game at 6-6. It was back and forth all the way to the final minute with the Rattlers taking the lead than Raiders tying it back up but it took to the 30 seconds for the Raiders Kyle MacLennan to control the ball. After breaking away from a check with a spinorama move MacLennan potted the game winner with 6 seconds left.
It was an ugly win, but its 2 points the Raiders need to stay atop of the OXLL standings.
Scoring for Kelowna was Kyle MacLennnan with 4g 2a, Pho Heng 3g 3a, Jared MacLennan 1g 3a, Kyle Tomiye 1g 2a, Eli Wood-Scowcroft 1g 1a, Mark MacLennan 2a, Cory Fearon 1a

Kelowna Raiders Win Home Opener
The Kelowna Raiders Started off the 2009 season with a bang on Firday night at the Memorial Arena in downtown Kelowna. After shaking off some of the rust, a Armstrong goal off the opening face-off, the Raiders paraded back to take a 4-1 lead into the intermission with goals by Geoff Wray, Steven Plasko and two from kyle Tomiye. The tables turned in favour of the Shamrocks in the 2nd period as they came out with a more physical presence including a spirited bout between Kelownas Jacob Illichmann and Armstrongs Chad Pounder. The hard hitting defence seemed to spark the Shamrocks offence potting 2 goals by Brett Heitman and Nathan Storhm, although the Raiders answered back with a goal by Ryan Spring ending the 2nd period 5-4 in favour of Kelowna. After a bit of a scare for the Raiders in the 2nd period, they came out running hard and peppering the Armstrong Goalie Chad Pieper and taking a 9-6 lead. Armstrong tried to muscle a come back netting one last goal to close the gap by two goals but the Raiders defence held strong and shut down Armstrongs chance of a real comeback. Final score Kelowna Raiders 9 Armstrong Shamrocks 7.
